The African Women’s Alliance believes that access to quality education is a basic human right and improves the communities in which we live. While there are many issues facing members of the African immigrant and refugee communities related to education, we have chosen to first establish a circle to expand our own horizons so that we may be better prepared to serve our youth and fellow mothers in the coming years.

Our Cross-Cultural Book Club will soon start an interactive series where participants share stories about their ancestry as a way of solidifying the pieces that connect us as a human race while celebrating the diversity that makes us whole. It is intended to have a visual/geographical approach-to celebrate our interconnectedness with the help of the “The Club Globe Hour”.

AWA’s Education Committee is continuing to explore needs of the African community and is looking forward to expanding our offerings beyond the book club very soon.
