


In a significant step towards improving waste management in Lagos, the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) and the Association of Waste Managers of Nigeria (AWAMN) recently held their inaugural joint meeting. The meeting was attended by Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegeshin, the Managing Director of LAWMA, along with senior management staff. Additionally, Mr. Gbenga Adebola, the President of AWAM, and other executive members were also present. The primary focus of the meeting was to foster collaboration between the two groups in their efforts to make Lagos a cleaner city.


Discussions centered around key areas such as securing better funding for the waste management architecture, creating an enabling environment for waste business, and implementing effective waste management strategies. Both LAWMA and AWAMN recognize the importance of working together to address the pressing waste management challenges faced by Lagos State. By joining forces, they aim to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of waste management operations, ultimately leading to a cleaner and healthier environment for all residents. This inaugural meeting marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to improve waste management in Lagos. The collaboration between LAWMA and AWAMN is expected to yield positive results in the coming months, as they work towards achieving their shared goal of a cleaner and more sustainable Lagos.
